About Me…

Hi! My name is Heather, and I love color!

I am also certified in the prestigious Sci/ART system of personal color analysis, and have been helping people look and feel better, for almost 15 years.

The approach that I’ve developed over that time helps people understand how our natural color intuition and the effects of color on our complexion relate to each other.

It’s not just about having an arsenal of clothing in the most popular colors; it’s about finding and expressing yourself in the colors you wear.

I take a simple, straightforward approach to personal color analysis that anyone can understand. We focus purely on the colors and how your skin responds to them. No jargon, no intimidating process; just you and your colors. A unique and fulfilling step on the path to self-discovery; everyone should experience this!

Frequently asked questions…

QUESTION: What is Personal Color Analysis (PCA)?

ANSWER: Personal Color Analysis is a term often used within the fashion industry to describe a method of using colored drapes and full spectrum lighting to determine the colors of clothing and makeup that harmonize with a person’s skin complexion, eye color, and hair color for use in wardrobe planning. It is generally agreed that the wrong colors will draw attention to undesirable aspects of one’s complexion such as wrinkles or uneven skin tone while harmonious colors will enhance the natural beauty of the individual making them appear healthy and vibrant.

QUESTION: What are the differences between your Professional Virtual Personal Color Analysis and the Professional In-Person Personal Color Analysis?

ANSWER: In a Virtual Personal Color Analysis, we work as a team.  You complete a brief Color Intuition Evaluation and I analyze several of your personal photographs, using a specific criteria to maximize the accuracy of your results. I determine the color responses in your face using digital versions of the same drapes I use in-person; an average of 60 comparison drapes per client. The analysis takes me 2-3 hours to complete. Once the color responses are evaluated, I combine them with the results of the Color Intuition Evaluation. You will receive a written summary detailing all of the color responses that I see in your complexion, leading up to your specific season.

During an In-Person Personal Color Analysis, I use controlled, full spectrum lighting, a color neutral background, and specifically assembled fabric drapes (an average of 60 drapes) to see subtle changes in your face as it responds to color.  An In-Person experience allows for your questions and real-time feedback as I analyze your complexion. Throughout the 2-3 hour analysis, you will learn how your unique skin tone responds to color and will be able to see those changes personally.  After becoming familiar with how your skin responds to color, I will also be able to give you your “Core Colors”; colors that are uniquely radiant  on you within your seasonal color tone. You are welcome to bring your makeup bag along and I help you determine what makeup does or doesn’t fit into your seasonal colors.

QUESTION: What if I am not happy with the results of my analysis?

ANSWER: The interpretation of color response in a person’s face is subjective. What one analyst sees as a favorable color response may be interpreted as unfavorable by another analyst. There are also many variables that cannot be controlled in a virtual analysis, particularly. So, to help you feel more confident in your decision, I follow up with you one week after your analysis. I check in to see how you look and feel in “your colors”. If you have any questions or issues, we work together to figure them out. Whether I have done a virtual analysis or an in-person analysis for you, if you still do not feel happy with your colors, I offer a two-week Color Satisfaction Guarantee; no questions asked. Just let me know that you are not satisfied with the results, return your color book, and you will receive a full refund.

QUESTION: Does my seasonal tone change as I grow older?

ANSWER: For most people, their seasonal colors will never change. In some rare situations, a woman’s season will change with menopause.  Her complexion will soften as her hormones (and skin tone) change.  In these situations, a woman’s skin tone may shift slightly within her season; she may shift from a True Autumn to a Soft Autumn, for example.

Another uncommon situation that may cause someone’s seasonal tone to change is any medications, such as chemotherapy medication, that alter one’s blood chemistry.  This change is temporary and the skin tone will usually return to normal within 6 months of completing the medication.

QUESTION: Can children have a Personal Color Analysis done?

ANSWER: Yes! Some analysts believe that a child’s coloring fluctuates until they grow past puberty. In actuality, our seasonal color tone is determined by our skin tone alone, so it stays the same from birth onward.  Since our Core Colors within our season are influenced by our unique hair and eye colors, a child’s Core Colors may change as they mature, but their seasonal color tone will stay the same.

QUESTION: I like to dye my hair; will this change my seasonal color tone?

ANSWER: No. Our skin tone determines our seasonal color tone; hair and eye color will only influence our Core Colors within our season.

QUESTION: I tan in the summer; will this change my seasonal tone?

ANSWER: No. A tan can only potentially change your Core Colors within your seasonal color tone.

QUESTION: I think I already know what “season” I am.  Is it common to dislike your seasonal color tone or certain colors within that tone?

ANSWER: Although it is common to have a few colors in your palette that don’t appeal to you, overall, you should really like and be drawn to “your colors.” Just like your unique hair and eye color will determine your Core Colors within your season, they will also determine the colors that don’t necessarily have the “wow” factor.  The key is to remember comparison.  Even your least favorite colors in your seasonal color tone will look much nicer than similar colors from another season. Part of the fun in Personal Color Analysis is discovering what colors within your seasonal color tone look the best on you and reflect your personality!
